Atlético Madrid’s game against Sevilla on Sunday evening at the Civitas Metropolitano has been cancelled due to inclement weather in Madrid.

The game has officially been rescheduled due to the chance of storms after an ASEM weather alert put the entire city on alert. LaLiga on Friday confirmed this game would be played on Saturday, Dec. 23 — the last available matchday in 2023, prior to the start of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

A date of December 30 or 31 to make up the game had been mentioned by some media outlets.

A notification was sent to residents of Madrid with the following warning. All residents were advised to stay in their homes unless strictly necessary. Diario AS reported that 300 litres of water per square meter could fall on Madrid in the coming days.

This means Atlético enter the international break having played three games instead of four, and Los Rojiblancos remain undefeated in the league after victories over Granada and Rayo Vallecano as well as a draw against Real Betis.
