Atlético Madrid dropped two points against Getafe on Saturday night despite Ángel Correa giving them the lead in the second half.
Saturday was the second time this season Atlético have dropped points at home when leading at any point. They have won four games when they have taken the lead at any point.
“Yes, it hurts me,” Diego Simeone said about dropping points at home. “We have to look at each other and push each other so (our fans) see the Atlético they have always seen at home.”
Atlético dominated Saturday’s game in many aspects. They attempted 633 passes, their highest total in a single match in LaLiga this season. But the fact remains Atlético’s home form is at a low point in Simeone’s 10-plus years on the touchline.

Atlético have won four, drawn three and lost three at home this season, picking up only half the available points on offer. That’s a .550 winning percentage, the lowest number since Simeone took over at the club. Their highest winning percentage at home was back in 2013-14, not surprisingly, when they won 15 and drew four (.895).
“When I think of the dropped points, I feel bad,” Simeone said. “But when I think of all the good things the team did, I feel good. We attacked the whole game, we looked for ways through, our opponent defended well. We had chances to get closer to goal but we couldn’t find the decisive pass.”
Simeone has spoken recently about finding a solution in the summer that suits everyone after Atlético were eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage and from the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. Atlético have been out of contention for LaLiga since before the World Cup break.
“We always speak with Miguel (Ángel Gil), Andrew (Berta) and Enrique (Cerezo). We will talk the same whether we finish third or sixth,” Simeone said.
On a more positive note, Atlético are now unbeaten in their last four games in the Spanish league. They happened to widen the gap between themselves and both Real Betis and Villarreal after the pair lost on Saturday. Villarreal were beaten by LaLiga’s basement-dwellers, Elche, and Betis lost 4-3 in a thrilling game against Celta Vigo.
