Starting 11:

Oblak

Decisive. Oblak ended the match with four saves and a clean sheet. He was quick off his line to grab a loose ball or cross, made key clearances with the ball at his feet. He made a goal-line save on Iago Aspas in the 56th minute and another crucial stop to prevent Reinildo from scoring an own goal late on in the match. 8

Reinildo

The left-back was challenged early and often by Carles Pérez and Gabriel Veiga. Reinildo was able to subdue them with some cheeky shielding and tackles, but was dribbled past on more than one occasion later down the road. The second half saw much of the same back and forth battling for the defender, whose blushes were spared by his goalkeeper late on. 4.5

Hermoso

Switched the point of attack with dynamic passing. The Spaniard ended the match completing 12 of his 16 long balls and picked up two tackles to go with it. 6

Savić

The 32-year-old defender frequently put his body on the line, tying up loose ends at the back and never shirking from a challenge. But he received his third red card in five games in the 70th minute after getting tangled with Haris Seferović, leaving the team with 10 men again. 3

Molina

Continues to gain influence after a shaky start to life at Atlético Madrid. Took over 100 touches and enjoyed his freedom on the right flank. Defensively, the Argentine had four tackles and two clearances. 6

Barrios

Another strong showing from the young midfielder, specifically in utilizing his vision to distribute the ball and progress play. Although some of his passes were off the mark, his quick dribbling and passing brought much-needed creativity and impetus when the team lacked other options. 6

Koke

The new league appearances record holder barely put a pass wrong and made five tackles, positioning himself well to get on the ball and recover it when lost. 5.5

De Paul

A well-rounded effort for the midfielder, who started slowly but grew into the match. His passing and pressing were vital in helping Atlético gain and keep possession. Off the ball, the World Cup winner chased Celta’s players relentlessly — he ended the match with six tackles and an interception. 7

Llorente

Put his normal high-effort performance, using his elite stamina to hustle and overlap with Molina, but he was unable to get on the scoresheet before being subbed off. 5

Griezmann

Once again relied on heavily as the hub of Atlético’s offensive operations. The Frenchman found space by shifting out wide in the first half but he wasn’t on the ball enough. Diego Simeone surprisingly subbed him out as he was gaining influence in the second half. 6.5

Morata

Had a few looks early on and had Atlético’s only shot on target for most of the match. Came off for Memphis in what turned out to be a game-winning change. 4

Subs:

Carrasco

Replaced Barrios to start the second half. Forced a save from Iván Villar shortly after coming on as he delivered a good cross for Morata. Had another effort in the final minutes of the match, which took a deflection that led to Memphis picking up the rebound and scoring. 5.5

Memphis

Replaced Morata just after the hour. A quiet performance from the January signing up until the 89th minute, when he found himself in the right position to slot the ball past Villar, turning and shooting in one fluid motion. 7

Witsel

Replaced Llorente in the 65th minute and was slotted in the backline after Stefan Savić’s red card. Witsel didn’t get much of the ball in his time on the pitch, ending up with a total of seven touches, but his versatility helped Atleti keep the clean sheet at a tricky ground. 5

Correa

Replaced Antoine Griezmann in the 65th minute. Had one shot on the night that was blocked. Tracked back well to add to the defensive effort. 5

Saúl

Came on for Koke in the 86th minute and couldn’t do much in such limited time. N/A
