Not a good day for Atlético.

Starting XI:

Oblak

Kept the game from getting out of hand with his diving saves. But he conceded twice, once from an unmarked Gorka Guruzeta and another from a Nico Williams curler. Hard to put fault on the keeper, whose efforts were a lifeline for Atlético Madrid throughout the match. 5.5

Lino

Felt like Atlético’s best chances had to come through Lino, but the Brazilian’s individual inspiration wasn’t enough. Iñaki Williams and Ínigo Lekue teamed up well to subdue Lino and prevent his combination play from creating great chances for the visitors. 4

Hermoso

Distributed well when given the opportunity to open the play or pass into the midfield. Was beat with a Nico Williams touch inside, giving the attacker just enough space to curl a worldie of a strike into the top corner four minutes after the hour. 5.5

Witsel

Targeted Samuel Lino early on, sending long balls toward the Brazilian in an almost automated fashion. Was caught in a situation where he either failed to communicate with Álvaro Morata or simply didn’t track Gorka Guruzeta, who was left wide open on his 51st-minute goal. Nico Williams pinpointed Witsel for his lack of pace space on the ball was unproductive. 4

Söyüncü

Conceded a first half penalty on his first start for the club and was subbed off for José Giménez to start the second half. The defender will hope to put this match behind him. 3.5

Molina

A quiet match from the Argentine, not sharp on the ball and not impactful defensively. Watched the second half from the bench after being taken off for Rodrigo de Paul. 4

Saúl

Made his 400th appearance for the club. Frequently dropped back deep to receive the ball and turn into space. Made the simple pass but was ineffective in sparking any chances up the pitch. The game passed him by defensively. 4.5

Koke

Switched the field of play well, sending long balls to find the wingbacks and others who floated into space. Tracked back and threw himself in the battle for an occasional tackle. Could have done better in breaking lines to find the attackers up front. 5

Llorente

A logical choice to start based on his physical attributes alone, but Atlético needed more football from its midfield on Saturday and Llorente didn’t provide that. It took him until the final 20 minutes to his his dribbling and passing stride. Forced a save from Unai Simón with one of the better chances the team had. 5.5

Griezmann

Took two shots on target which Unai Simón dealt with effectively. Didn’t have much time on the ball to pinpoint his passes or dribble into space. Simeone opted to take off the striker in the 59th minute. 4

Morata

A quiet performance from the Spaniard. Didn’t log a single shot attempt. 4

Subs:

De Paul

Picked up a yellow card three minutes after his halftime entry. Hustled on both ends of the pitch to try to make any impact possible. 5

Giménez

Looked comfortable in his 300th appearance for the club. The defender didn’t take any chances in the back, ending with two clearances and three interceptions. 5.5

Correa

Came on for Griezmann on the hour. Couldn’t do much better in attack, often twisting and turning into red and white shirts. 4.5

Memphis

Looks spent physically. The creative intent is still there but the touch and the athleticism don't seem to be. 4.5

Azpilicueta

Looked to supply Llorente with passes into space from a withdrawn wing-back role. 5
