Mono Burgos returns to Atlético Madrid in search of loan deals

The Aris manager is at the Wanda Metropolitano to discuss transfer business and a potential friendly.

“Visiting friends,” the caption reads.

Mono Burgos is back at Atlético Madrid. Diego Simeone’s former assistant posted a photo to his Instagram account on Friday, posing at the Wanda Metropolitano alongside Theodoros Karipidis, the president of Greek side Aris Thessaloniki FC — the side Burgos is currently managing.

The Argentine has come to Madrid in search of some loan signings, according to Spanish media reports. Burgos managed to get his team to a third-place finish in the Greek top flight last season and is keen to build on that next year.

Mundo Deportivo say Serigio Camello, Roro Riquelme, Borja Garcés and Victor Mollejo are all possible loan signings for Aris. All of these players will report to preseason training with Simeone on 7 July and will try to force their ways into the manager’s plans.

Aris will play in the Conference League next season, and European experience might be a selling point for Burgos and the club.

Elsewhere, the 2022 World Cup takes place in Qatar next November and December and LaLiga clubs will play friendlies to broaden the league’s international audience. Burgos and Aris’ president will also discuss the possibility of a game between the two sides according to Diario AS.
