Starting XI:

Oblak

Oblak did well to come off his line with speed and make himself big to keep Atlético Madrid in the lead. He was calm under the pressure in the second half, when Real Madrid piled on some pressure. His saves from Luka Jović, Fede Valverde, and Marco Asensio sealed the win. —7.5

Reinildo

Played with intelligence in his positioning and tackling. The Mozambique international utilized his speed to win 50/50 balls and connected well with Yannick Carrasco to spark some of Atlético’s brightest attacking moments. Had to be subbed off after hurting his leg in the second half. —6

Giménez

Sliced the ball calmly and confidently to wide players like Llorente, and was active in front of Jan Oblak, directing traffic and getting stuck into passing lanes. —6

Savić

Was full of fight and battling instinct, sometimes to his detriment, as he tripped up opposing skipper Nacho early on. His passing was a little off at certain times, but responded when called into action in the second half. —4

Vrsaljko

Contained the in-form Rodrygo and Nacho, and did well enough on Vinicius Jr. after the Brazilian entered the game. Looked to push up the field with Llorente when the opportunity arose. —5

Carrasco

Immediately the team’s best attacking outlet from the left. Took players on whenever he got the ball, and had an opportunity to score early on after besting Casemiro in the box — but the shot fizzed just wide. In the 40th minute, the Belgian converted the penalty Cunha won for him moments earlier. He almost grabbed a second goal after halftime, driving down the flank and striking the ball off the base of the post. —7.5

Kondogbia

Commanded the midfield throughout the match. Set up Ángel Correa in the opening minutes of the game for a solid chance. Made multiple important tackles and interceptions. —7.5

Koke

Beaten at times by faster Real Madrid players, but enjoyed more freedom in a 4-3-3 formation. Ended the match with three tackles and a key pass. —5.5

Llorente

Although most of the attacks came from the left-hand side in the first half, Llorente was responsible defensively and made himself available. After the half, many of his runs were reciprocated with passes, and the midfielder created chances for the team. —6

Cunha

Convincing performance as Diego Simeone casts him for a starting role next season. Drew the penalty in the first half, after Jesús Vallejo stepped on his heel. He forced a big save from Andriy Lunin in the 63rd minute from Antoine Griezmann’s pass. —6.5

Correa

Missed his best opportunity to score in the fourth minute, rolling the ball just wide. Was subbed off for Griezmann at the start of the second half. —4

Subs:

Griezmann

Slotted in up top after replacing Correa. Pushed for opportunities to score, turning with the ball and initiating counterattacks. He got into great areas and had chances to score himself later on in the second half, with a sliding shot from a Carrasco pass missing the mark. —6.5

Felipe

Came on for Reinildo after he picked up an injury. Finished the match strongly in the backline. —5

De Paul

Replaced Cunha with a minute to go. Didn't have much of an impact with such limited time. —N/A

Lodi

Replaced Carrasco in the 93rd minute. —N/A
