CA Osasuna 0-3 Atlético Madrid: Player Ratings

Atlético keep a clean sheet on the road for the first time all season.

Jan Oblak

Got down for an excellent save on a Nacho Vidal volley late in the first half with Atlético Madrid nursing a one-goal lead. Looked confident and assured when coming out to claim crosses. 7

Šime Vrsaljko

Made only his fourth start of the league season. Did not add much to the attack and caught Rubén García for a 54th-minute yellow card. Atlético need to upgrade this position over the summer, no questions asked. 5

Stefan Savić

A proper rock at the back, with a team-high eight clearances. Also showed an adventurous side in the first half, playing the ball out from his own half and finishing the game with three dribbles completed. 8

José Giménez

Exited at halftime with yet another injury as Manchester United loom on Wednesday. Finished with one clearance and one interception. 5

Reinildo

Continues to adapt to his new surroundings. The Mozambican doesn’t get forward that much, but his sturdy defending helped Atlético get to halftime with a lead and freed Carrasco to do damage. 7

Héctor Herrera

Led all Colchoneros with 47 first half touches, as Simeone gambled on his ability to link play together through his passing as being more important than his defensive weaknesses. The Mexico international also acquitted himself well in the air, winning four headed duels. 6.5

Koke

Passed tidily (93 percent accuracy) in the first 45 minutes, but his passing was too lateral and Atlético still could not grab control of the game. Dug in defensively to make a few clearances, but still far from his best. Was nice to see him grab an assist for Correa at the end. 6

Marcos Llorente

Vrsaljko’s presence allowed Llorente to play his preferred inside-right position. His goal drought rumbles on, but his energy and activity are so important. 6.5

Yannick Carrasco

Straight back into the starting 11 after overcoming COVID-19. The Belgian added desperately-needed pace and bite to Atlético’s left flank. It’s too bad his temper will cost him both legs of the Man United tie. 7

João Félix

Marked his 100th Atlético appearance with a third-minute goal, as Osasuna’s defense lost sight of him from Yannick Carrasco’s corner. The Portuguese spent the rest of the first half getting fouled (though only one was called) before setting up Suárez’s goal with a long ball from his own penalty area. 8.5

Luis Suárez

Distracted Sergio Herrera long enough for the Osasuna keeper to drop a corner that Félix popped home to hand Atlético the lead. In the 59th minute, he caught Herrera off his line and lobbed the ball over him for his ninth league goal (and only his second in 2022). 7

Felipe Monteiro

Entered for Giménez at halftime. Strong second half with six clearances and no backbreaking errors. 7

Geoffrey Kondogbia

Entered for Suárez in the 70th minute. A wise substitution from Diego Simeone to protect a two-goal lead. Shored up midfield and didn’t misplace any of his passes (in a small sample size). 6

Ángel Correa

Entered for Llorente in the 81st minute. Applied some sheen to the result with an 89th-minute strike, his team-high 11th goal of the season. 6

Mario Hermoso

Entered for Félix in the 82nd minute. Little substantive impact. N/A

Javi Serrano

Entered for Carrasco in the 82nd minute. Started the move that culminated in Correa’s late goal, then saw a yellow card for a sloppy challenge on Kike Barja. 5
