Starting XI

Oblak (8): Had a strong outing against a Getafe side which put on the pressure on early. The keeper made five saves, stayed alert on crosses into the box and picked up the clean sheet.

Arias (5.5): Arias had multiple interceptions and tackles to his name. His inconsistent passes were glaring, however. Some of his crosses weren’t met by anyone in the box.

Giménez (7): Although the defender picked up a card, he stopped a number of Getafe’s buildups via his clearances and physicality in the air.

Felipe (8): Really came up big, halting any attacker that came his way. The Brazilian’s best moment came in the 10th minute, when he positioned himself well to make a clearance on the goal line, keeping the score level.

Sánchez (4): The Atlético Madrid academy graduate had a more subdued performance Thursday as compared his recent appearances. Rarely was he involved in the attack, nor did he dart up the sideline to get overly involved.

Correa (3): Another quiet game from Correa. Failed to be instrumental in the attack like he is capable of doing through silky dribbles and quick turns. Looks like a shadow of himself compared to his first half of the season.

Llorente (8.5): Pivotal performance, yet again. He used his pace up front to send passes in the box, and when given the opportunity he dribbled right at the defense. His goal came in the 54th minute off a low and hard finish into the bottom corner.

Koke (5): Supplied accurate long balls, but could have been more aggressive in the final third. On the defensive end, the captain’s pressing forced Getafe into some wayward passes.

Saúl (3.5): Couldn’t get much going. His argument with referee Mateu Lahoz resulted in a yellow which will keep him out of the season finale on Sunday. He was subbed out for Thomas minutes later.

Diego Costa (7.5): Was always looming in the box, searching for any kind of chance on goal. He forced David Soria into one good save from his five shots, and he stirred up the attack when it needed it most.

Carrasco (7): Attempted to take players on, like he usually does. He wasn’t as effective as prior matches as he completed just one dribble, but Carrasco made up for it with the turn and assist on Llorente’s goal.

Subs

Thomas (7): Came on and positioned himself well with a long ball and a run into the box, resulting in a goal to wrap up the three points.

Morata (2): Came on for Llorente, but made little noise.

Vitolo (6): Entered for Carrasco, and his ball control allowed him to lay on the assist for Thomas’ goal.

Herrera (N/A): Didn’t have much of an impact with such limited time, only seven minutes in relief of Costa. He did complete 96 percent of his 25 passes.

Lemar (N/A): Didn’t have much of an impact with such limited time, only seven minutes in relief of Correa.
