Atlético Madrid’s internationals have returned ahead of what looks like a grueling run of fixtures, one which kicks off in the Basque Country on Saturday evening.

Though Diego Simeone recovered nine healthy players from their national teams, he will have to make do with Álvaro Morata (knee sprain) and Thomas Partey (muscular problems) on the shelf for this trip to Real Sociedad. Atlético have a history of erratic results while visiting La Real, but will continue as LaLiga’s leaders with three more points here.

Possible XI

Oblak; Trippier, Giménez, Hermoso, Lodi; Koke, Saúl, João Félix, Lemar; Vitolo, Costa.

Predicted scoreline

1-1. Atlético did the double over Real Sociedad last season, but their results in San Sebastián since 2014 show a side that often plays poorly there: 1-2 (loss), 2-0 (win), 0-2 (loss), 0-3 (loss), 2-0 (win). I expect the hosts to fly out of the traps and have Atleti on their heels in the first half, but the visitors to bounce back in the second half through...sure, why not. Ángel Correa, in his first appearance this season!

Jeremy’s record on the season: 1-0-2
