Jan Oblak wants out of Atlético Madrid according to ESPNFC.
The goalkeeper favours a move to boyhood club Manchester United according to the report, with “broken promises” related to player recruitment said to be the source of his unrest.
The 26-year-old just recently signed a new deal with Atlético, but fans of the club remained concerned over his €120 million release clause — which is low for a goalkeeper of his quality.
United have David de Gea as their number one, but he went through a difficult spell last season with criticism coming his way for his performances. That came on the back of a World Cup with Spain where he was also criticised for his performances — many suggested he was not the player he once was.
Oblak on the other hand fortified his reputation as one of the world’s elite goalkeepers. He conceded just 27 goals in 37 games in LaLiga and kept 20 clean sheets.
Atlético are of course set for a massive overhaul this summer, with Lucas Hernández already gone to Bayern Munich and Antoine Griezmann announcing that he will leave too. Oblak will lose four of his most prominent defenders with Diego Godín, Juanfran and Filipe Luis joining Lucas in the departure lounge, and the many unknowns surrounding Atleti this summer understandably could be making him nervous.
