Jan Oblak (6): Not especially at fault for any of the goals, the chaotic defense in front of him once again imploded.
Juanfran (6): Compared to some other performances, not the worst, but what is obvious is that Juanfran no longer has the physical capacity to be a dynamic full back in this league.
Diego Godín (5.5): Rather unlucky with the OG, and had some decent moments, but just could not marshal the defense at all. For all of his qualities, Godín has had a very hectic season.
Stefan Savic (4): Brought off at halftime for Correa. Yes, that really happened, and no, Correa did not do anything. One consequence of Lucas and Godín leaving this summer is that Savic will most likely be kept on, which does not fill one with confidence.
Filipe Luis (6.5): Had a busy afternoon and made a ton of successful tackles (6, most of any player), but still is not effective offensively.
Lemar (5): Poor day for Lemar who got the early hook, despite some bright moments. When the team is not functioning around him, Lemar rarely performs well.
Rodri (6): Still unsure why Rodri came off, he was not playing especially well, but Atléti were not much more secure after he left.
Saúl (7.5): Easily Atléti’s best player today, did everything in the midfield. Showed how good he can be when deployed in his preferred role.
Koke (6): Not Koke’s best, but still provided some help. Went missing for long periods, but with Saúl pulling the strings, he did not have to.
Morata (6): Got his chances, and did more than Griezmann. Still super effective in the air, just could not get the shots to go his way this afternoon.
Griezmann (5): I think Griezmann was up watching the Blazers-Nuggets 4OT game last night, his performance was so lethargic. In all seriousness, Griezmann has had a poor second half, but honestly there is not much benefit to him giving everything at this time of the season.
Subs: Correa for Savic 46’; Vitolo & Montero for Rodri & Lemar 59’. None of these changes particularly helped things, and again, strange choices.
