Atlético Madrid will seek a third consecutive win between LaLiga and the Champions League on Tuesday, when they welcome newly-promoted Huesca to the capital.
Diego Simeone’s mattress makers have generated momentum over the past 10 days — first with a great display in an unfortunate 1-1 draw with Eibar, a result they followed up on by beating Monaco and Getafe away. Atlético by no means will overlook new boys Huesca, but a win will see them enter Saturday’s Madrid Derby in their best form of the young season.
The Aragonese side are coached by former Atlético goalkeeper Leo Franco and have a current Atleti keeper in their ranks as well. Axel Werner is expected to start for the visitors, as the Argentine’s loan deal does not contain a fear clause. Werner has conceded the most goals in LaLiga so far this season (13), although that total is inflated by the eight he let in at Camp Nou earlier this month.

Atlético await Santiago Arias’ return from a rib injury, and Simeone has decided to rest Juanfran with the Bernabéu trip looming. Otherwise, Atleti are at full strength — Vitolo was cleared to return to action Monday morning, and Nikola Kalinić received the same news last week. Cholo is not expected to rotate much, but it’s anticipated that Saúl will get a breather and it would make sense for Filipe Luís to get one too. Atleti B right back Carlos Isaac is expected to start — he made a cameo in an April win over now-relegated Deportivo La Coruña.
Possible XI
Oblak; Carlos Isaac, Giménez, Godín, Lucas; Rodri, Koke, Gelson, Lemar; Griezmann, Costa.
Predicted scoreline
Atlético 2-0 Huesca.
