Vietto had options to go to Russia and Turkey, but he wanted to test the Premier League waters in an effort to get back to the form he showed at Villarreal. That form, which included 20 goals in 48 games, was the reason his former Racing Club coach Cholo Simeone bought him for the rojiblancos in summer 2015.
