Antoine Griezmann spoke at a press conference with France alongside teammate Steven N’Zonzi just two days before the World Cup is to kick off and while he accepts that there was lots of expectation surrounding the press conference, he said “I’m very sorry, but today is not the day to speak about my future.”
Griezmann did, however, confirm that he’s made a decision on where he will play next season. It is still expected that the Atlético Madrid forward will publicize that decision within the next 72 hours.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Barcelona and there is worry at the Wanda Metropolitano that he could be convinced given his €100 million release clause.
Atlético reportedly have offered him nearly €30 million a year, however, and Barcelona were said to be reluctant or unable to match it. Griezmann is said to like life in Madrid along with his wife and child and has already decided to stay in the capital in an effort to push the club to higher heights.
Griezmann is keen to win the Champions League though, and that could push him in the direction of the Catalans and league champions.
In any case, the circus continues...
