Jose Gimenez departure from training “just precaution”

José Giménez left training on Sunday with muscular discomfort according to several reports. The departure was purely precaution, however, as Cadena COPE’s Antonio Ruiz has related.

Atlético Madrid are just three days from contesting the Europa League final in Lyon against Olympique Marseille and were forced to play their LaLiga game against Getafe on Saturday despite wanting it to be played earlier. The main reason is that it would have afforded players more rest — Marseille played their league game againsr Guingamp on Friday.

Giménez completed the first part of Sunday morning’s session, which was attack-based, before leaving the field. Atlético trainers are on their guard for any sign of injuries and are obviously not going to take any risks with their players ahead of the final on Wednesday night.

Vitolo did not train either, but Ruiz says everyone is in perfect condition (or will be soon) for the game in Lyon.
