Getafe CF-Atlético Madrid: Time, TV, streaming and how to watch Liga Santander 2018

All eyes are on next week’s game in Lyon, but an important derby comes first.

Atlético Madrid can virtually wrap up second place in LaLiga when they visit Getafe on Saturday evening.

Real Madrid’s 3-2 loss at Sevilla on Wednesday means Atlético need just four points from their final two league games to finish above their city rivals on points. Of course, there’s a Europa League final sandwiched between Saturday’s match and next weekend’s fixture against Eibar, but Diego Simeone’s squad (see below) indicates that he’s going partido a partido to the end of the season.

Plucky, aggressive Getafe are eighth in the table, and two wins from their last two will put them into next season’s Europa League. José Bordalás’ men have enjoyed a tremendous first season back in LaLiga, but los azulones have drawn or lost each of their past 10 against Atlético in the league. The suburban Madrid side haven’t even scored a goal in this fixture since Simeone’s appointment as Atleti’s boss in Dec. 2011.

Surprisingly, Simeone has selected first team players only for this match. The sole exclusion is Vitolo (hamstring injury), and the boss says he will be ready for Wednesday’s Europa League final against Olympique Marseille. As such, it’s expected Cholo will start his best team and try to get key players off the pitch as early as possible.

Possible XI

Oblak; Vrsaljko, Giménez, Godín, Filipe Luís; Thomas, Saúl, Koke, Correa; Griezmann, Costa.

Predicted scoreline

Getafe 1-1 Atlético Madrid.
