Jan Oblak says there’s ‘nothing new’ to report on Atlético contract extension

The Slovene shot-stopper spoke about his murky future.

Jan Oblak admits there is nothing new with his contract extension talks with Atlético Madrid, but he seems open to whatever happens. He says if he stays, the club and him will grow together and if he doesn’t, the club will grow without him.

“There is nothing new, I have a contract that I signed two years ago,” Oblak said after Sunday’s draw versus Real Betis. “What will happen, nobody knows and not even me. I prefer to finish the season well and hope to win a title. After that, we’ll see, but I have a contract. I’m not thinking about anything other than Atlético.

“Atlético can grow, and have grown a lot and I am sure that it won’t stop now, although it’s not easy. I am sure that it will continue and we will see what happens with me, at the moment I am happy.”
