- Carrasco departure confirmed
Hello Atléticos, and welcome to another Weekly Rojiblanco. With Copenhagen behind us and Lokomotiv waiting in the Europa League, Atlético Madrid continued their awesome form with a thrashing of Sevilla on Sunday. However, they returned to training Monday down two Chinese Super League-bound attackers.
Acuerdo con Dalian Yifang para el traspaso de @CarrascoY21 y @nicogaitan.

- Fernando Torres will stay, however
There was a bit of controversy this week as Diego Simeone gave a terse response to questions about Fernando Torres’ future with the club. The popular striker is out of contract at the end of this season and appears to have fallen out of favor with the manager. It is always sad when a club legend’s time comes to an end, but I suspect that Torres will go out with the same level of class that he has always shown with the club.
- Costa calls out refs
After another weekend with a dubious non-penalty call and a booking for dissent, Diego Costa insisted that the referees have it out for him. On Sunday, he was half-right: while he was booked in the first half, he went on to score and won Atlético’s first penalty of the season.
(Interestingly, the strikers ended training last week with some penalty practice.)
- A Stadium Called Wanda to host Spain-Argentina clash
Atlético’s new ground has been confirmed as the site of the friendly on March 27 between Spain and Argentina. Exciting.
