Atlético Madrid will travel to Montilivi after the winter break to play Girona in the Copa del Rey. The Catalan side will head south the week after for the second leg in the last 16 of the competition.
The first legs will take place between January 8-10, with the second legs a week later, January 15-17.
Atlético just returned from the north after a hard-fought 1-1 in the league. Diego Costa was important in that win but he won’t be back for the clash in the Copa.
Their record against Girona is not extensive but it’s really not great. Atlético played Eusebio’s side for the first time last season and drew 2-2. Since then, they have played each other two more times and draw both games.
