Starting XI:

Oblak (8): Made a huge save in the 73rd minute kept the game scoreless.

Arias (7.5): Arias did extremely well to cause problems with his crosses and passing. He was more offensive-minded in the match and aided the attack.

Godín (7): Godín’s leadership was needed with a 19-year-old academy graduate stationed next to him. Besides getting a yellow, the captain did well with four clearances and two interceptions.

Montero (6): The teenager played all 90 minutes, 70 on a yellow card. He made three clearances and stuck to basics with his passing.

Saúl (7): We are used to seeing Saúl dominate in the midfield rather than defense, but he played well at left back once more. He made two clearances and a whopping five interceptions.

Koke (8): Koke set the tempo and was deadly accurate, with another match over 90 percent pass completion on a game-high 103 touches.

Thomas (6): Just 68 minutes for Thomas, but he had a solid had a solid night. He wasn’t afraid to shoot from long range, but he wasn’t very accurate with his passes (69 percent) and couldn’t dispossess as many opponents as he usually does.

Rodri (6.5): Rodri played the entire 90 minutes but couldn’t get into his groove. At times, he looked like he was trying to force passes that were not there. He completed a pedestrian (for him) 85 percent of his passes.

Lemar (7): Lemar’s crossing helped create space for other players, and as usual he tracked back and helped out defensively.

Gelson (6): Failed to make an impact playing out of position. Showed pace but little else — zero shots on touches in 60 minutes.

Griezmann (6.5): Quiet night for the Frenchman. Forced a good save out of American Ethan Horvath with a first half curler but offered little danger otherwise.

Correa (6.5): Zero shots, one dribble completed and just 53 percent pass accuracy. Good intentions notwithstanding, just not good enough from the Argentine.

Vitolo (6): Vitolo’s half hour showed good passing but little else.

Kalinić (N/A): Kalinić played around 20 minutes and couldn’t change the match much. Won a couple headers.
