Atlético Madrid host Athletic Club at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday — fresh on the heels of their best performance this season.
Atlético beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Tuesday night in the Champions League despite missing several key pieces. Among the walking wounded were Diego Costa and Diego Godín, but goals from Saúl and Antoine Griezmann decided a match that was never really even that close.
Both Costa and Godín have been given the all-clear and are available to take on an Athletic side that is in some trouble. Amid news that club president Josu Urrutia will step down following elections next month, coach Eduardo Berizzo’s men have not won since matchday one and are languishing in 17th place — and former Atlético hero Raúl García may not even play this one.

Costa and Godín are back, but Koke, José Giménez, Lucas Hernández, Thomas Lemar and Stefan Savić are all out of the squad and need the international break to recover. Juanfran may get his second consecutive start ahead of Santiago Arias, and academy product Francisco Montero — who debuted on Tuesday — will play next to Godín in central defense.
Possible XI
Oblak; Juanfran, Montero, Godín, Filipe Luís; Thomas P, Rodri, Correa, Saúl; Griezmann, Costa.
Predicted scoreline
Atlético 1-0 Athletic.
