Excluding the heartbreaking midweek loss to English champions Chelsea in the Champions League, Atlético have been on an absolute tear recently. Last week’s 2-0 league win over Sevilla was los colchoneros’ most impressive win this season by far, and they’ll try to follow it up with a visit to their neighbors Léganes.
Both sides have started their campaign in good form, with Atlético sitting second only to Barcelona, and Léganes currently in seventh in the table. Léganes have pulled out some impressive results — most notably against Las Palmas last weekend. However, in terms of firepower, there’s no contest.
Antoine Griezmann is easily one of the best forwards in the game. With help from players like Yannick Carrasco, Koke and Saúl, there appears little chance on paper that Léganes center-back and Greek international Dimitris Siovas will be able to handle them.
It’s hard to look past an Atleti win here, especially since Diego Simeone’s men will be itching to erase that Chelsea match from memory. However, Simeone will be without a left back as both Filipe Luís and Lucas Hernández have suffered hamstring injuries.
