The summer transfer window can be pretty frustrating. For example, Atlético Madrid could be linked with a player on Monday, but the rumor has disappeared by Wednesday. Maybe Atlético were close to getting rid of a player before interest waned. Perhaps there’s another player who you may have dreamt about and another your friend mentioned down the pub that they might try to sign, but there’s no proof of it online.
Well, fret no longer. Into the Calderón is here to track every rumored incoming or outgoing transfer. The article you’re reading now will be updated daily and will keep you abreast of Atlético transfer news and speculation. We’ve also included links from other sources and links to articles we’ve written about the players in question.

Players in
Diego Costa
The Holy Grail this summer. He wants Atlético and Atlético want him. The Chelsea forward and Spain international is enjoying his time off as he waits for a transfer to get sorted; he has been spotted on Instagram dancing in a rojiblanco jersey and telling Cesc Fábregas to hug Antonio Conte for him. The deal has looked imminent for a while, but nothing is official yet, and AC Milan could yet make a move for the 28-year-old.

Grzegorz Krychowiak
Left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s trip to the United States, Krychowiak is a name on Diego Simeone’s list, reportedly. He could be the player Atlético hope Matías Kranevitter will turn into and could free up the other two midfielders (Koke and Saúl) given his ability to cover ground and use his physicality to break up play at the base of midfield.
L’Equipe, however, have claimed that Atlético are NOT interested in the player and that he will not be available at a cut-rate price.
OFFICIAL: PSG confirm Serge Aurier, Hatem Ben Arfa, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Jean-Christophe Bahebeck & Alec Georgen have not travelled to USA.

Fabinho
Reports emerged that a deal had been done for the Monaco midfielder but they disappeared just as quickly when Atlético denied it. Since then, the trail has gone cold as Manchester United, among others, remain interested in the Brazilian.

Lautaro Martínez
The 19-year-old Argentine is reportedly close to finalizing a move to Spain. Due to Atlético’s registration ban, however, he would stay at his current club Racing for another season.

Players out
Antoine Griezmann
Griezmann was close to a move to Manchester United before Atlético’s transfer ban was upheld earlier this summer. The France international changed course after that decision and decided to renew with Atleti, which should have brought an end to his transfer saga. There were fresh rumors involving him and Barcelona, who are on the prowl for a Neymar replacement, but AS say that Barça have informed Atleti that they have no intention of signing the star attacker.
Luciano Vietto
Southampton were said to be in talks to sign Vietto, although that was quickly rebuffed. Italian side Sampdoria are interested, Benfica, Deportivo and Valencia are too. The pacy forward spent last season on loan at Sevilla and scored 10 goals, but there may not be a place for him at Atlético.
Ángel Correa
The Argentine was linked with a move to Liverpool last week and earlier this summer was linked with moves to Real Sociedad and Inter Milan. All has since gone quiet on the rumour front. The young forward’s failure to really take advantage of his minutes is cause for concern, but Simeone remains a fan. To that end, Atlético insist that he is not for sale.
Matías Kranevitter
DONE DEAL! Zenit St. Petersburg have won the race for Kranevitter’s signature amid interest from Fiorentina and Las Palmas.

Emiliano Velázquez

Bernard Mensah
DONE DEAL! You may remember Mensah from the time he vomited at Atlético training (to be fair, it was his first session under Simeone). The midfielder and Jorge Mendes client has joined Turkish side Kasımpaşa on loan, which marks his third loan spell in three years since arriving from Portuguese side Vitória.
