Šime Vrsaljko left training on Monday afternoon in San Rafael with a pain in his left knee and was accompanied off the field by Dr. José Villalón, but hopes are that it is just a scare.
The right-back suffered a cruciate knee injury to the same knee last March. As you can see from the video in the tweet below, he walks off under his own weight and does not seem to be limping. At this early stage of training, precaution tends to be taken and this could be the case for a player who looks set to start the season as Atlético Madrid’s first choice right-back. However, we’ll wait and see how big a role the 25-year-old plays in training over the next few days.
