According to a report in AS, Atlético Madrid have agreed a fee of €45 million for Monaco midfield ace Fabinho. Atlético, who were mentioned to be in the race for Fabinho but not as the strongest candidates, are set to land the 23-year-old in January.
Manchester United had been watching the young Brazilian midfielder, along with Paris-Saint Germain. But Atlético, who were dealt a blow earlier in the day when Vitolo renewed with Sevilla for five years, have reportedly beaten out the competition for his signature.

What does Fabinho do?
If Fabinho arrives, he will be registered in January, and under that scenario it remains to be seen if he plays in the Champions League for Ligue 1 winners Monaco. If he does, he will be ineligible to play for Atlético from January as he would be cup-tied.
According to many, Fabinho is the kind of do-it-all midfielder who can help to balance any midfield. This is something Atlético need pretty badly, as Koke was incapable of being that player when operating from the centre last season. Fabinho offers versatility - he can play as a right back - and stability with his appetite for the ball.
