Fernando Torres might have played his last game for Atletico Madrid as ESPNFC report that he is in ‘advanced talks’ with LigaMX side Queretaro.

Atletico were said to be keen to pen Torres to a contract when the transfer ban appeal was unsuccessful and he said himself that “the whole world knows what I want. When I returned it is what I always wanted. I do not hide my feelings for the club and what I want in the future.”

You get the feeling that Torres will wait until the very last minute to see what Atletico Madrid offer and it might not be money that decides his next move. He has been offered $5 million to move to Mexico, according to ESPNFC’s report.

Atletico are reportedly close to signing Sandro and Diego Costa, which would mean Torres is surplus to requirements next season but they would need him for the first six months. This is the uncertainty that the transfer ban brings on.

Torres just turned 33 a couple of months ago and is out of contract with Atletico in the summer. A new contract was mentioned but Queretaro look like they could be closer to a deal than Atletico. Paco Jemez’ Cruz Azul were also mentioned as a landing spot.

He scored 10 goals this season in limited opportunities although he was considered a more consistent option than Kevin Gameiro at stages this season. El Nino has played 293 times for the club he joined as a kid and has scored 105 goals for los Rojiblancos.
