Atlético Madrid have been linked with Zlatan Ibrahimovic by Tuttosport and based on their logic, it makes perfect sense. The former Manchester United striker is out until close to January with a knee ligament injury that he sustained against Anderlecht in the Europa League and has been rumoured to want a return to international football.
A six-month deal at Atlético might be the perfect solution to all of his problems and one or two of Atletico’s, too.
Simeone wants Diego Costa. Costa wants Atlético and Antonio Conte doesn’t want the striker anymore. But with the World Cup taking place in 2018, Costa is unwilling to sit out the first half of the year with the last opportunity to win a World Cup in his prime approaching. The same can be said for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, although he is younger, and Vitolo is in the same boat.
Atlético’s transfers have been limited with plenty back and forth over who is and who is not willing to move to the Champions League semifinalists. It will take a lot more than a tentative rumour that works in theory for us to be convinced. Atlético and Zlatan might not even be a real thing but theoretically speaking, it does make perfect sense.
