Atlético Madrid are three goals behind but have pride and everything else to play for on Wednesday night at the Vicente Calderón.

Theo Hernández and Simeone’s strategy

The news that Theo Hernández will move to Real Madrid from Atlético broke at a suspiciously erratic time for Atleti and will not help in terms of them feeling like they really are fighting a monolith. It will, however, fire up the team. In saying that, it is not necessarily a good thing because a red card or an early mistake leading to a goal will be the end of their challenge.

There are plenty of things for Diego Simeone to consider and we discussed it with the guys at Managing Madrid and what route he should take when considering his team and strategy.

Juanfran looks set to return at right-back while Kévin Gameiro will likely be dropped. Simeone has plenty of thinking to do in an effort to figure out how to break down Real Madrid.
