Atlético’s flying Belgian is rumored to be on the move this summer as the club look to get themselves out of financial trouble

Yannick Carrasco has been linked with a move away from Atlético Madrid, with Arsenal and Chelsea said to be leading the race for the Belgian winger’s signature.

(Yes, that is a report from the not-so-reputable Sun, but stick with us here.)

The 23-year-old, who had a night to forget against Barcelona on Tuesday as he missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half and was dismissed for a second yellow for a clumsy tackle in the second half, has his admirers in France and Germany too. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are said to be monitoring the former Monaco player as well.

As the Independent reported recently, Atlético could be forced to move a few pieces on the chess board in order to complete their move to the Wanda Metropolitano on the outskirts of the city.

Carrasco and Antoine Griezmann have been linked with a combined €140 million move away in order to give Atlético’s board some financial wiggle room that could also see Diego Costa on the move back to the club. It is, of course, a move that has been suggested as a possibility from almost the day he landed in London. Atleti publicly courted Costa last summer but had to settle for Kévin Gameiro instead, who has failed to live up to lofty expectations and his high price tag.
