Noise getting louder over Griezmann to Man United, reports of agreement in place

Reports in France, that have been picked up by publications in England and elsewhere, insist that Antoine Griezmann and Manchester United have reached personal terms.

The French striker was not more than a few hours removed from scoring a goal against Barcelona that kept Atletico Madrid in their Copa del Rey tie, which has a second leg to come next Tuesday.

Canal Plus reported that he had agreed terms and Yahoo Sports France have picked up on that. The 25-year-old is reportedly set to make a similar amount as Paul Pogba per year, which has been said to be as high as €18 million per year.

The French striker has a buyout clause of €100 million, while not buttons for Manchester United, can be considered a reasonable fee for a player who finished behind just Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in Ballon d’Or voting.

Wayne Rooney is clearly on the decline, and has been, and United need to replace his goals. It is believed that Jose Mourinho believes that Antoine Griezmann fits the bill.

Diego Simeone looks set to stay for another year with his Father saying recently that he will not leave Atletico yet, but it will happen at some stage. Inter Milan are said to be favourites to land his services.

There is much ambiguity surrounding Atletico Madrid as their planned move to that Wanda Metropolitano remains in limbo, and shrouded in doubt. Simeone and Griezmann, arguably two of Atletico’s most important assets are constantly being linked away and their form this season could lead them to a lack of Champions League football. They aso have the small matter of a transfer ban, which complicates any potential departure.

It is one day after the transfer window and the speculation is already filling up timelines and sports websites. Hang in there because the Griezmann to United train is just taking off and we have a long six months ahead of us.
