Not much new to report today and the old news is painful, so in place of the standard Daily Rojiblanco, I’ll leave you with a quick injury update.
Filipe LuÍs did not practice Thursday after suffering a hamstring injury in the midweek loss draw with Qarabag FK. The club says it is a minor injury which shouldn’t keep him out too long, but he’s almost certain to miss Saturday’s trip to Riazor, his old stomping grounds.
While we’re on the subject of Atlético Madrid players who won’t be playing Deportivo La Coruña this weekend, Koke too remains out despite previous reports that he may return sometime this week. A brief analysis from AS notes that Atlético’s recent slump coincides with Koke’s absence from the squad. He may not be the sole reason for the recent woes but his prolific distribution is sorely missed.
Yannick Carrasco’s well-documented delay in returning from a knee injury is ongoing as well.
There is currently no timeline for any of these sidelined players, but sooner would be better for Atleti, as they face Real Madrid after the international break and hope to stay in position for a top four finish until reinforcements arrive in January.
