Thoughts and reflections after a big Champions League win.

Atlético Madrid live again in the Champions League.

Antoine Griezmann’s astonishing overhead kick and Kévin Gameiro’s sweet finish carried Atlético past an in-form AS Roma on Wednesday. Griezmann, Gameiro and Diego Simeone were among those present after the match to reflect on the victory, which keeps Atleti in the qualification hunt.

Diego Simeone

On the match and the upcoming matches in the Champions League:

“It wasn’t very different from our match in Rome. But this time we were able to finish our chances.

"We had a responsibility to win this match and now Roma have to beat [Qarabag]. We also have the obligation to win in London."

On the fans and their role on the match:

“Even before we kicked off, we were already winning the match because of the fans’ continuous support. The players responded the way the fans wanted and played with heart.”

On Griezmann’s goal:

"It was a 'golazo', a goal that reflects his ability. Hopefully it's the first of many more."
