Šime Vrsaljko and Napoli have an agreement on contract terms, according to Italian media. The Croatian full-back just helped his side to the World Cup and played a starring role in the first leg of the playoff against Greece. He has struggled to adapt to life at Atlético Madrid, however, and remains second choice to 32-year-old Juanfran in big games.

The reported agreement would see Vrsaljko be paid €2.4 million net per season across five years. Atlético are not keen to sell for any less than €20 million though after purchasing him from Sassuolo for that price as a long-term replacement for Juanfran.

It appeared as though the 26-year-old had moved into the driving seat as Diego Simeone’s right back, but a series of injuries and a lack of faith from the coach have pushed speculation over the player’s future into overdrive.
