  • Koke and Carrasco expected to return against Real

According to various reports, Koke and Yannick Carrasco are expected to make their return against Real Madrid, after returning to training this week. Both have been sidelined for extended periods of time with muscle and knee injuries respectively.

The return of Koke and his prolific distribution will be a welcome boon for Atlético Madrid, who have struggled to generate scoring chances since he was sidelined a month ago. Hopefully he can shake off any rust quickly as Atlético will need a crisp performance from him and others as they look to maintain their unbeaten league record against their bitter rivals.

Carrasco too brings added depth to the attacking core, and potentially some much need width and explosiveness to the Atleti attack.

  • Vrsaljko and Lucas see extended international action

Both Šime Vrsaljko and Lucas Hernández went the full 90 for Croatia and the France U21 respectively yesterday. Each team won their match handily.

  • Napoli rebuffed in Vrsaljko pursuit

The Italian giants are reportedly keen to bring the fullback into the fold in January but have seen an offer rejected by Atlético. Napoli are attempting to fill a void created by a knee injury to Faouzi Ghoulam, but given Atleti’s recent fragility at the fullback position, the club has made it clear that the player will not be moved midseason.

  • Tour of the Wanda Metropolitano

The club has released the following video, which features a walkthrough of the Wanda Metropolitano’s inner areas. Not a ton new here, but the video does a nice job of highlighting the exquisite detailing in the new stadium. Now if only the team can turn the Wanda into the fortress that the Calderón once was.
