Happy Halloween, Atléticos! It’s appropriate that Atlético Madrid are back in Champions League action today considering the horror this campaign has been so far. With any luck, a big win against Qarabag and a Roma loss can bring our UCL season back from the grave.
If that doesn’t get you excited, check out this guy’s pumpkin:

Nicely done, sir.
- Lucas Torreira transfer a done deal?
According to reports, Atlético have agreed to send €40 million to UC Sampdoria in exchange for midfielder Lucas Torreira. While it won’t be surprising to see Atleti splash some cash in January when their registration bad is lifted, this is a steep price for an as yet unproven player.
To be fair, Torreira has had a electric start to the season with an upper-mid-table club in Serie A. However, I’m just not sure about this one. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
- Atlético and Real to bump heads over Guedes
In other news, Manolete suggests that both Madrid clubs are ready to duke it out for winger Gonçalo Guedes’ services. The Portuguese international is currently on loan at Valencia from Paris Saint-Germain and he’s been in remarkable form, with three goals in seven matches so far.
The 20-year-old has been an important piece of the puzzle for Valencia’s impressive start to the season, so it is unsurprising that the heavy hitters in the league have taken note. But PSG’s asking price for a rising star of his calibre remains to be seen.
