It was a very slow news day so there is really not much of substance to report, beyond the squad list below. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for pregame coverage leading up to the Champions League match tomorrow.
- Squad list announced for Qarabag fixture
On Wednesday, Atlético Madrid will square off against Champions League newcomers Qarabağ FK in Baku, Azerbaijan. The team arrived in Baku yesterday but did so without Juanfran and Luciano Vietto.
It is unclear what the motivation was for leaving these two out of the squad or if fitness/injury played a role in the decision. To that end, Šime Vrsaljko and Augusto Fernández did make the trip, which suggests that those two are ready to come back from recent muscular issues.
While Qarabağ are certainly the weakest team from the group, Atlético cannot afford to drop points against them, so it will be interesting to see the starting XI that Simeone puts out there.
