Atlético Madrid played one of their worst games of the season so far in the match against Leganés. We saw some tactical changes from Diego Simeone that did not pay off, and another heroic game from Jan Oblak is the main reason why Atleti even came out with a point. Simeone tried to look on the few positives from the match in his press conference after the game.
Diego Simeone
His view on the match:
"We weren't as convincing as we should have been in the first 15 or 20 minutes. We had opportunities to score but didn't. After that, it was normal that our players were tired, since we played on Wednesday night...We attacked without clarity and they had some good chances on the counter, but Jan was secure in the back."
On his decision to substitute Griezmann:
"Seeing how the game was going, we had already done a lot. We wanted to create more opportunities, but there was a chance of losing. Getting a point is ok. It's better than losing, even though we always want to win. However, we earned a point that'll help us keep moving up in the table."
On the mid-week Chelsea match affecting fitness:
"After the effort we made Wednesday the game was going to be conditioned by the first 20-25 minutes. We had chances early on, but they defended very well with many players.
"We made a big effort against Chelsea, and it is not easy to keep putting in such efforts. We got a point, which is disappointing, but we must keep working."
Saúl
On the match:
"Whenever we don't win, we get mad. We have to be optimistic because the team hasn't lost away from home and we got another clean sheet."
Giménez
On the difficulty of the match:
"We knew it was going to be a difficult match. They played intelligently and we couldn't score. It was important to get the win, but now we have to keep working because we can always improve."
