Eibar 2-2 Atlético Madrid: Copa del Rey Player Ratings

Atlético advance to the Copa del Rey semifinals 5-2 on aggregate after some late fireworks

Miguel Ángel Moyá, GK: 5.5

Made an outstanding save on Josue midway through the first half in what was to Eibar’s best chance prior to the goals from Sergi Enrich and Pedro León. Could do very little on either goal.

Juanfran, RB: 7

Quiet game other than his outrageous lob to level the scores at 2-2, his second cracking Copa goal of the season.

José Giménez, CB: 8

Commanding, in-control performance, capped off with a super looping header moments after the second half began. The 22-year-old’s form of late has to have him above Savić in the pecking order as Diego Godín’s partner.

Stefan Savić, CB: 6

Better first half than second half. Joséma’s excellent form probably means Savić will be watching from the bench for a bit.

Lucas Hernández, LB: 6.5

Good to see him get 90 minutes in and spell Filipe Luís. Would like to see him play more in the final third, but won’t complain about someone so young who is so steady in defense.

Angel Correa, RM: 7

Very energetic, bordering on out-of-control at times (see the tackle which injured Fran Rico). Had a 1v1 with about 20 minutes left that was well-saved by Yoel.

Gabi, CM: 7

Played the ball that set up Juanfran’s goal in the final five minutes. Saúl’s exit made the midfield a little less solid, but Gabi played well individually. A marker of consistency.

Saúl Ñíguez, CM: 7

Thought it harsh that he was substituted after an hour. The canterano looked comfortable and in his element despite a less-than-eventful hour. His partnership with Gabi kept the team balanced.

Nico Gaitán, LM: 7

Delivered the corner that led to Giménez’ goal. Looking better and better by the game now.

Kévin Gameiro, FW: 5

Difficult night for Gameiro, who is struggling for form at the moment with just one goal in 10. He didn’t link up well with Torres and missed too many chances.

Fernando Torres, FW: 4

Better that he get 90 minutes in a meaningless game instead of Antoine Griezmann.

Koke, CM: 5

Entered for Saúl in the 62nd minute. Missed a key tackle in the buildup to Sergi Enrich’s goal. Not used to coming on as a sub and it showed.

Yannick Carrasco, LM: 5

Entered for Gameiro in the 62nd minute. Allowed Gaitán to switch wings for about 15 minutes and allowed Correa to move to forward (where he was better). Still not sure if this sub, along with the Koke sub, was really necessary.

Šime Vrsaljko, RB: N/A

Entered for Gaitán in the 75th minute. Wasn’t able to do a whole lot, but his entry facilitated Juanfran’s move to right wing - from which position he scored and put the icing on the proverbial cake.
