In order to avoid a possible move by Barcelona, Atletico Madrid have resigned Theo Hernandez until 2021 with a reported buyout clause of €24 million before leaving for Alaves on loan soon after.
The left-back was drafted into Diego Simeone’s first team squad and is set to eventually take over from Filipe Luis as Atletico’s first-choice left-back.
A brother of Lucas Hernandez, who had a good spell last year with the first team, he is also a left-sided defender who can play at centre-back and left-back. He is expected to start immediately for Alaves, who will be trying to avoid relegation in their first year back in La Liga in ten years.
