We have asked @pilar_arjona to give an impression of Granada ahead of the new season.
What are Granada’s expectations heading into the year?
Granada has the same goal for the sixth season in a row: avoid relegation, once again trying to assure it without uphill struggles at the end of the season. But this time, we are going to try it playing “nice” football.
How would you summarise your team’s tactics?
It is still a mystery. There are plenty of novelties in the squad, a new era with a new manager who is going to be required to express his style in the team. If he succeeds, we are going to see a classic Paco Jémez tactical system: daring without complexity.
Who are your most influential players?
Many important players have left the team this summer and the entire make-up of the dressing room is an unknown; we will have to wait to see who is going to assume the leadership of the squad.
How has summer transfer business gone for Granada?
Granada has experienced a lot of departures, most of them important. Players like Andrés Fernández, Ricardo Costa, Success, Peñaranda, Robert Ibáñez, Rochina, El Arabi, Rubén Pérez or Babin among others. The most important arrivals will be on the bench, Paco Jémez, who will have available signings like Tito, Matthieu Saunier, José “Tin” Angulo, Ezequiel Ponce or the goalkeeper Ochoa. However, we expect some more new signings yet.
Make one bold prediction for Granada for the coming season.
Ending the season in a comfortable spot of classification would be a success. If Jémez’ philosophy crystallizes and triumphs, we will have no problems avoiding relegation. But the squad and the club are nowadays a mystery as there are a lot of changes to come. Staying in La Liga 1|2|3 with ease would complete the mission.
