Antoine Griezmann is ready to renew his contract with Atletico Madrid until 2021 according to reports coming from France's L'Equipe. The 25-year-old currently has a deal that will keep him at the club until 2020 but the improved contract is also said to see his release clause raised to €100 million.
Griezmann is just days away from playing the first match of Euro 2016 with his country against Romania on Friday. The stage is well and truly set for the Atletico attacker to announce himself as one of the best footballers in world football and there is plenty of expectation.
While there has been no confirmation of the renewal from the club, it would seem to be a savvy piece of business considering what might happen at the Euros. As we all know, a good international tournament can result in plenty of admirers that previously remained unconvinced.
Diego Simeone appears poised to stay at the club as Unai Emery is touted to become the next Paris Saint-Germain and so it looks like Atletico are ready for another title challenge and Champions League run. If there are plans of domestic and European success, news of Griezmann's renewal will be music to the ears of fans and his teammates.
