No, Diego Simeone Didn't Slap A Match Official

He has been on Atletico's bench since 2010 and is not a UEFA official

It would be harsh to call Diego Simeone an outlaw but he has been known to stray outside its boundaries when the mood catches him. From throwing balls onto the field to halt opposition attacks to slapping fourth official on the back of the head, Simeone is a practitioner of the dark arts.

His latest indiscretion involved slapping a man in a suit as the clock ticked down on Tuesday nights encounter with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. There were cries from twitter to ban the Argentine for life, strip him of his management title and there was even the suggestion that we obtain one of those memory wiping guns used in Men In Black starring Will Smith to erase our memories of Diego 'Cholo' Simeone. Hyperbolic, sure, but that's the internet for you.

When the truth emerged, it turns out Simeone had took a swipe at one of his own coaches. I'll let Dermot Corrigan take it from here..

Pedro Pablo Matesanz is a former Elche and Atletico Madrid player and played for Atletico for seven season, winning the Super Copa during the 1985-86.

He has been an Atletico delegate since 2010 and is presumably close to Simeone and the entire backroom staff.
