Valencia kept on with their paradox season as throughout the domestic campaign, they struggled to register wins against weaker teams while when they were up against the top teams, they always made sure to prove they are hard to beat and sometimes they also managed to snatch few points, just like they did on Sunday.
Cristian Toro's side proved to be superior in every area of the game throughout the 90 minutes and they exploited Atleti's weakness in the middle and also on the flanks where they were capable of creating havoc whenever they were present in the offensive zone.
It took 30 minutes for the away side to forge ahead through Claudia Zornoza, who played for Atleti between the 2011/2012 and 2013/2014 season. Valencia kept on piling pressure on Atleti's backline but they did not manage to extend their lead, with the first half ending at 0-1 for the visitors.
After the interval, Atleti applied a more offensive approach with Sonia Bermudez missing a couple of occasions where she could have restored parity. However, Lady Luck seemed to be on Valencia's side and Toro's ladies doubled their lead through Mari Paz. This was a hard blow for the home side who conceded the third goal few minutes later from Joyce which practically sealed the match for the away side.
It was a complicated match for our girls but they have a golden opportunity to return to winning ways when they face minnows Oviedo on Sunday.
Hoy no fue nuestro día. Dura derrota que nos aleja del objetivo. Seguiremos compitiendo hasta la última jornada. pic.twitter.com/35fYIHVSsM
