Dramatic comeback keeps Feminas in title race

Two goals late in the match in the 4-2 victory over Santa Teresa, kept Atleti Feminas in the title race with just one point distant from leaders Athletic.

Atleti Feminas made a bright start in this match with a couple of early goal-scoring opportunities, however, they could not capitalise on their early dominance. As expected, the home side started to pile on more pressure in search of that opening goal, however, it was the away side who forged ahead. Lixy Maria shocked the entire Ciudad Deportivo on the 27th minute to put the visitors ahead and just a few minutes before the half time whistle, Atleti hit the post. It was the closest they would come with the first 45 minutes ending with Atleti trailing to Santa Teresa 0-1.

The second half was no different with the Feminas bullying their opponents without making it count on the scoreboard though. As time ticked by, the match became a nervy issue with plenty of challenges in midfield that disrupted most of the open play. However, Lady Luck was on Atleti's side on the 77th minute when the Colchoneros were awarded a penalty from which Sonia Bermudez made it 1-1. It seemed that from that point onwards, Atleti would bust Santa Teresa but it was the latter who scored the go-ahead goal a couple of minutes later. Atleti were not to be outdone and remained compact and full of belief and their result was soon forthcoming. They equalized once again on the 82nd minute through Esther Gonzalez. It was all square again until Nagore Calderon (Yes, it had to be 'Calderon') put Atleti in front for the first time during the encounter on the 85th minute. The home side continued to take risks in the final minutes but talisman Amanda Sampedro sealed the victory on the 92nd minute to make it 4-2 for Atleti.
