The Colchoneros showed their competitive edge at the Daniel Jarque Sports City, despite locking horns with a tough opponent who cope very well against top clubs. Angela Sosa, Priscila and Sonia immediately took the initiative to press Espanyol. In fact, Sonia opened the scoring when she headed home to break the deadlock in a cagey affair. However, the joy did not last long, as a couple minutes later, Aroa equalized for the home side after heading home from a whipped cross on the right flank. Nonetheless, Atleti Feminas kept piling up pressure on its opponents with Sonia creating most harm for Espanyol's back line. However, the first half ended at 1-1.
The second half provided the same scenario as the previous 45 minutes, with the team from the capital bossing the game, seeking the goal which would give them the lead for the second time in the match. Atleti's ladies were rewarded for the intense pressure and numerous goal scoring opportunities when Amanda found Norma who delightfully netted the ball to restore the lead for good.
It was a tough outing in Catalunya for the Feminas, but in the end they fully deserved the three points. Atlético's ladies now sit just one point behind leaders Athletic, which lost to Rayo Vallecano's ladies at the weekend.
Atleti Feminas will now go up against Santa Teresa on Sunday on home soil.
