Atletico Madrid have signed Diogo Jota from Pacos Ferreira according to reports in Spain. The 19-year-old has signed a five year deal with the club despite the best efforts of Benfica to sign the left winger.

The attacking midfielder has appeared in 27 games this year for his side, who currently sit seventh in the Portuguese top flight. He has scored 11 goals and assisted 10 more this term in all competitions. Atletico are still faced with the possibility of being banned from all transfer-related activity for 18 months but are confident that they can get the ban lifted permanently or at the very least suspended for one more window. The player's agent is Gestifute, or better know as Jorge Mendes, which is said to have helped in the negotiation process.

According to the report in MARCA, Atletico are still prioritising their attack despite the most recent signing of Jota and will keep trying Diego Costa or Edinson Cavani if attempts to lure the Chelsea star from Stamford Bridge are fruitless. The club's dedication to investing in youth, along with their ability to spot young talent, has proven pivotal in their rise in La Liga in recent years.

Like most people reading this article, we know little or nothing about the player but have taken to YouTube to find out more. Not bad, eh?
