Kevin Gameiro’s five goals and three assists in 10 games in rojiblanco colours might seem like plenty but the French striker says he is not yet the same player he was at Sevilla and promised there was more to come.

Along with Yannick Carrasco, Gameiro had a blast at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday night, netting twice, and proving himself to be a thorn in the Andalusian outfit’s side yet again. He has scored six goals in seven games against Juande Ramos’ team and only lost once against them going back to his time at Sevilla.

Gameiro, questioned about the anxiety and perceived nervousness that was seeping into his game to start his career at Atletico, said it was nothing that some help from teammates could not fix.

"It's only been two, three months that I've been here," said Gameiro who was answering questions in the mixed zone after the game.

"My teammates have helped me a lot,”

“I hope that soon you will see another Gameiro because now I am not at 100%”

The game at the Calderon turned out to be a ferocious battle that saw two red cards and eight yellows in a game littered with tetchy fouls and plenty of hassle for the referee.

The 29-year-old might not think he is playing particularly well but Atletico’s fans do and will be happy if he is below par while still knocking in the goals.
