Saul Niguez’ status for Atletico’s upcoming game against Granada on Saturday is unknown after pulling out of Spain’s squad that defeated Albania 2-0 on Sunday night.

The 21-year-old is suffering from discomfort in his left foot but there has been no word from Atletico as to what it is or whether it will keep him out for any period of time.

Spain released a statement after his withdrawal (via Sport):

"Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has left the Spanish national team's training camp due to not recovering from his foot condition within the desired schedule

"During the morning practice session, the player underwent tests on his physique and given the discomfort in his foot continued, it has been decided it is best for him to return to Spain.

"The Spanish national team's medical staff, after carrying out separate exercises, opted for him not to force the condition and suggested his recovery continues under his club's supervision."

It might be nothing given the fact that he was given the chance to train on it but it is worth keeping an eye on. Atletico are missing Augusto Fernandez for the season, pretty much, and Tiago is recovering from a recent injury meaning Thomas Partey might see more playing time in the next couple of games.
