Augusto Fernandez was unveiled as an Atletico Madrid player today following his €6.5 million move from Atletico's La Liga rivals Celta Vigo. The central midfielder becomes the second official arrival at the Vicente Calderon this winter as compatriot Matias Kranevitter was unveiled yesterday at the Madrid stadium.

The former River Plate player says, "I've arrived to a very united and competitive dressing room, it's like a family. I'll give my all and make every effort for the team."

Both Augusto and Kranevitter have been thrown directly into competition with Atletico as they are named in the squad to face Rayo Vallecano tomorrow night in the Copa del Rey.

The squad consists of: Moyá, Oblak, Siqueira, Savic, Gámez, Lucas, Giménez, Kranevitter, Augusto, Gabi, Óliver, Saúl, Thomas, Carrasco, Fernando Torres, Jackson Martínez, Correa y Vietto.

Enrique Cerezo says that Fernandez will offer balance and leadership to a young team in search of a leader who can operate at a very high level. The Atletico Madrid president also mentioned that his club are always in the market for new players who can increase their competitiveness in domestic competition. He believes that signing Augusto will further Atletico's period of success and praised the Argentinian's experience, delivery, quality and commitment to excellence.
