The international break is finally over, and we have Atleti back two weeks since their last game. La Liga is most definitely back and even though David Moyes´s team have been struggling, traveling to Anoeta is always a tall task for visiting teams. Real Sociedad were beaten 3-1 by Malaga in their last game, while Atletico drew with neighbours, Real Madrid 1-1, in El Derbi.
Last Thursday was the first chance Simeone had to train with his whole squad available. A total of 9 international players and 0 injuries is a good ratio. In fact, Koke took advantage of the break in order to full recover from a hamstring injury that resulted in him missing four games prior to the break.
Griezmann back at the Anoeta
The Frenchman returned to the place he called home for five years. During his visit to the Anoeta last year he did not even start and failed to score. He has since solidified himself as one of the out-and-out stars of Diego Simeone's sides.
Griezmann is Atletico's top scorers this year and has bagged three goals already in La Liga. Moyes' job could very well be on the line in this game and he will have to put a plan in place to stop Griezmann or the game is only going to go in one direction!
Main dangers
Imanol Agirretxe is Real Sociedad´s top scorer during his impressive start to the season with 5 goals in 5 appearances. New signing, Jonathas, has not been able to take Agirretxe's spot in Moyes' starting XI and will probably start the game on the bench.
While Jonathas and Agirretxe are excellent strikers, the most talented player in Real Sociedad's squad remains Carlos Vela. The Mexican forward has had some problems with injury, but he comes back to Spain with the view of changing his luck of late having bagged a goal for his national side during the break.
Correa-Jackson-Grizi and Koke
Taking into account the latest Atletico Madrid training sessions, there seem to be some significant changes to Simeone's starting XI that started against Real Madrid. The defensive side of the football will remain the same with Tiago and Gabi remaining their places in the centre of midfield.
In the final training session on Friday, Cholo worked with Koke and Griezmann as wingers with Correa joining Jackson Martínez up front. This way, both Torres', Óliver and Fernando maybe have to wait until the second half to make their appearances, if at all.
Simeone will be excited to have Koke back in his team as he missed the control he brings to proceedings, his hard work and delivery from set-pieces. He is surely one of most important footballers in Atletico´s 2015-16 project as his responsibilities have grown and the team must grow around him.
